Here’s what that looks like at Kindred

A Place to Belong

You walk in. Someone smiles, says your name and makes you a cuppa. At Kindred, you’re not a client. You’re part of the community.

A Workshop That Ends in Applause

We learn and try new things together. Every step forward is celebrated, and progress matters more than perfection.

Meaningful Conversations

You talk. Someone listens, they’ve been there too. You don’t have to explain everything. There’s space to just be.

A Shared Meal

It’s not fancy, maybe soup or pasta. But everyone adds something, and we sit together sharing food and laughter.

What People Say

Rated 5 out of 5

I had that much belief in Kindred Clubhouse, I joined the Kindred Board of Directors and have not been back to the hospital nor used a psychiatrist or psychologist. I have gained the strength and confidence to speak at Parliament, local hospitals and support services.”

— Craig, Kindred Member

You can feel it the moment you walk in.

It’s the joy of singing in a crowd, laughing in a kitchen or cheering at a game. A sense of warmth, connection and possibility.

At Kindred Clubhouse, we believe people heal best through connection, the kind that strengthens mental wellbeing with a quiet power that is hard to ignore.

Kindred is based on the philosophy of the Internationally recognised peer led Clubhouse Model, which was established in New York in 1948 to support people living with mental illness. Currently there are over 370 Clubhouses in 32 countries. Clubhouse International (www.iccd.org) is a global network that promotes the development and success of Clubhouses worldwide. Kindred is proud to be part of the global Clubhouse Community.

Why It Matters

Kindred is different because it isn’t built for people. It’s built with people.

We are people who’ve been through it, who care and who know that healing grows through connection.

At Kindred, we create moments of belonging, purpose, and joy. Together, we share:

Belonging

Joy

Connection

Purpose

Celebration

Friendship

Community

Perhaps you’ve felt it too, it’s like singing in a crowd, laughing in a kitchen or cheering at a game. That’s the energy we create.

That's the Kindred Effect.
